Finishing National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

As we close out the final week of our National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month celebration, we reflect on our mission that extends far beyond a month. At SCI, People First is our promise, reflected in our commitment to the communities we support. SCI’s Service Coordinator, Jean shares her thoughts on this promise as it relates to the role of a Service Coordinator.

“Person-centeredness is the core of everything we do,” said SCI Service Coordinator Jean. “If we are not person-centered, paying attention to the details about an individual’s strengths, areas they need help with, what the person’s preferences are, and what they don’t like, then how can the team know how to support the person in a respectful, dignified way?”
