Maryland’s Coronavirus Rumor Control Webpage – Help needed!

As we continue to respond the Coronavirus crisis, there are MANY rumors and misinformation that is shared; it is hard to know what is fact and what is not. Last week, we informed you of fraudulent scams our federal partners are uncovering, and unfortunately, emergencies also lead to rumors.

Our team has been tracking these rumors daily and confirming/debunking these myths.  To help you sort through some of the misinformation out there, we have put together this Rumor Control webpage resource for you.

Now, we really could use your help in two ways:

1. Please, review this page and familiarize yourself with rumors you have seen/heard.  If you see/hear one of these myths being shared, could you kindly direct people to this page so they can get the verified facts?

2. We know there are more rumors you have seen/heard while on social media or just in casual conversation that have not yet been brought to our attention.  Each day, we try to get to the bottom of each rumor while also trying to find new ones.  On the rumor page, there is a button for you to submit questionable info you have seen/heard. Please, submit your myths/rumors using that link.

Getting the correct and verified information to our fellow Marylanders is absolutely key to keep people safe, especially during times of uncertainty and confusion.  Working together to ensure correct info is shared during these trying times, WILL HELP keep your family, friends, neighbors, community, and fellow Marylanders safer.

Stay safe. Stay Healthy. Remember to keep washing your hands. I know the physical distancing is really tough, but it does not mean disconnecting. So, stay connected with you loved ones and that includes your neighbors.

I cannot thank you enough for all you have done, are doing, and will do each day to help your community fight and stop this virus. I want you to know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed – It IS and will continue to make a profound difference in our days ahead.

Thank you for your time and for your help.
