This Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, we celebrate individuals with Developmental Disabilities everywhere, including the people we support, like Andre.
Andre, a person supported by SCI’s Coordination of Community Services (CCS) program, is a talented artist with a deep passion for creativity and self-expression. While painting is Andre’s primary artistic medium, he also builds his own frames from scratch to showcase his work.
Art is such a meaningful part of Andre’s life that it is a pivotal part of his Person-Centered Plan (PCP), an ongoing process where Andre and his support team collaborate to set goals for his future, choose the services that will help him achieve them, and ensure he receives the supports he needs to live a full and meaningful life.
With the support of Ingrid, his service coordinator, Andre recently realized a major milestone: having his artwork included in an exhibit. Encouraged by Ingrid to submit his work, Andre’s artwork was selected through a highly competitive process to be displayed at the Art in Full Spectrum exhibition at the Maryland General Assembly, a special exhibit that features artwork from Maryland artists with disabilities.
This Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, please join us in celebrating Andre and his talent!
