Our Approach

Person-Centered

We take a person-centered approach to case management, ensuring that each person’s goals and values guide every step of the planning process.

We use the Charting the LifeCourse framework to support individuals in navigating life decisions with clarity, purpose, and empowerment.  Click here to learn more about our approach to person-centered planning.

Being person-centered goes far beyond our approach to case management: it is one of our core values. “People first” is the foundation of how we operate. Guided by our vision of fully inclusive communities, we embed inclusion into everything we do, fostering a culture of belonging that honors the unique identities, experiences, and voices of both the people we support and our Team Members.

Shared Leadership

Through Shared Leadership, our leaders are focused on developing others and creating an environment of continuous learning.  We are connected by our mission and inspired to develop ourselves to carry it out.  We prioritize collaboration, motivating our teams, and nurturing respectful relationships through open communication. This results in resilient leaders who are committed to making a positive impact on others with versatility, empathy, and care.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA)

IDEA isn’t just a concept—it’s a core part of who we are. These values are woven into our culture, shaping an environment where both Team Members and the people we support feel respected, valued, and empowered to be themselves. By embracing IDEA at every level of our work, we deliver stronger outcomes and build stronger communities.  Learn more about IDEA at SCI here.

Strategic Plan

In 2026, SCI will celebrate 20 years of providing case management supports to individuals across Maryland and we will be sharing an update to our strategic plan.  Over the next several years, SCI will continue providing high-quality case management and related services, strengthening our role as a leader in the field by enhancing relationships with all customers and by collaborating for improvements across various systems. SCI seeks to increase our impact by supporting more people and by further investing in our organizational capacity with diversified resources.
