SCI Provides Resources to Navigate Food Insecurity During Government Shutdown

October 31, 2025

Service Coordination, Inc. (SCI) is dedicated to our mission to connect people with disabilities and their families to the resources they need to live the life they choose.

We’ve gathered some helpful information for the people we support, many of whom are affected by the federal government shutdown. Because of the shutdown, people who receive SNAP benefits (money for groceries on an EBT card) may not get their usual funds starting November 1.

On Friday, October 31, 2025, Governor Wes Moore declared a State of Emergency and announced $10 million in emergency funding to help food assistance partners support Marylanders who are impacted by this suspension of SNAP benefits.

Our case managers will continue working closely with the people we support to find the best resources for their needs. These resources were compiled by our community-based case managers throughout Maryland. For the most current details, especially about things like parking, long lines, and accessibility for people who are older or use assistive devices, please contact the organizations directly.
