Be a Part of an Organization that makes a Difference in the Lives of Maryland Residents with Developmental Disabilities and their Families
The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council is seeking applications from potential members to fill several membership slots that will be open in June of 2019. For this recruitment cycle, applications will be accepted through July 9, 2018.
Council guidelines require that Council Members are geographically representative of the state and represent the diversity of the state with respect to race and ethnicity. Specifically, we are looking for people with developmental disabilities and family members of people with developmental disabilities from Spanish/Hispanic/Latino backgrounds and from the Western and Southern regions of Maryland. We are seeking members who support our mission of advancing the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life.
The Council’s work is guided by its Five Year State Plan in accordance with the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act). The plan includes a comprehensive review of major service systems and issues in Maryland and outlines goals, objectives and specific activities that will be implemented to bring about change. More information about the Council’s State Plan can be found here.
We will review applications this summer and start the interview process in the fall. For information about the role of a Council member and to apply, please go to the membership page of our website.
If you need assistance with an application, please contact Krista Mason at firstname.lastname@example.org or 410.767.2914. Final Council appointments are made by the governor.
